School Sport at Causton in Spring Term

The weather inevitably reduces our opportunities in in the first half of Term but the pace hots up through March and April:

In January we took U11 and an U9 mixed teams to Inspire Ipswich to take part in Schools Games organised Dodgeball festivals. This was an excellent chance to widen participation and give more children a chance to compete.

February saw the annual Felixstowe schools Gala and a team of 23 competed wholeheartedly in all events which ranged from a 50M championship free-style through to a 1 width non-swimmers race! It was inspiring to see every child give their all and perform so well in finishing 5th.

In March we have a very busy Month:

Felixstowe schools will compete in Netball and Football in events postponed by the weather. The football will be held here at Caston and the Netball at Felixstowe Academy. We will be sending an U9 girls team to ITFC to take part in a football festival on 11th March with an U11 hockey team going to St Josephs on the 12th. Following that we have the Felixstowe schools events and then an U9 team going to Indoor Athletics for the first time (after a Causton only event) on the 24th March and Y4,5,6 teams competing in the IPSSA cross country (again following Year group trials) at Royal Hospital School on the 25th!

Sports Day

Yet again the sun shone and the whole school took part in our sports day.
In the morning the children competed in eight activities: Targets, obstacle, dressing up race, high-jump, sack race, javelins, egg and spoon; and standing long jump. Cheered on by the parents, the atmosphere was great and the effort by the children outstanding on a hot, humid morning. After two hours of frantic activity, the ‘Blues’ emerged as worthy winners.

In the afternoon, we took part in the inter-class athletics ac children sprinted and skipped to win a place at Area sports. All children again took part and there were some excellent performances and no shortage of determination by all!

We can now look forward to Area sports at Trimley on 1st July.

We sent 12 children to compete in this 10-a-side tournament and after four matches in which e won three and drew one, we won! The firlding was good and there was some excellent batting.  Very well done to the team.

Winners! Rounders at Grange

On a sunny afternoon, eleven girls and boys from Year 6 went to Grange for the annual inter-schools ‘rounders’  competition.  Through four hard fought matches, the team batted and fielded well, improving as the games progressed.  After three wins and a draw, we emerged as winners! Congratulations to the team.

Quick Cricket

Eight boys and girls from Year 6 and 5 travelled to Felixstowe cricket club to compete against four other schools. They played very well, winning two and then losing two games by very narrow margins to finish third. Once again, the sportsmanship of the children was very evident as they shook and always thanked the umpires.
